The Lords of Misrule

It's monsters galore as Jack Goodfellow and his homicidal brother Vincent battles things that go bump in the night!

When I first went to the San Diego Comic Con in 1992, I went to buy a Mark Martin T-shirt at the Tundra stand on Sunday. In my hand I had the last of the portfolios I had been handing out over the weekend (with zero result, I might add). In pure desperation I gave the last copy to the guy at the booth, since there seemed little point in bringing it back home. And hey, he was really an editor and it got me a job!

The Lords of Misrule, as the series was called, was written by Englishmen Dan Abnett, John Tomlinson and Steve White. It is a ripping horror yarn, combining the best of English ghost story tradition with Lovecraftian paranoia. Of course Tundra UK, who where the publisher, went belly-up, and the project was in limbo for a long while after they went the way of the hairy mammoth. Eventually our contract expired, and Dark Horse was persuaded to take up the gauntlet. They put it out in six issues, then in an incredibly nice paperback, and it has since been published in French (yay!) as Les maîtres du désordre and Danish (yehaw!) as De underjordiske by Fahrenheit.
